Country rock singer Robert Earl Keen will perform at the Bluebird in Bloomington on Thursday, February 11.

Keen has been performing since the early 1980s, building a local following in Austin, Texas that has steadily grown to into a national fanbase. His music is particularly popular among tradition and alt-country fans, as well as folk and the college radio crowd, making him perfect for Bloomington.

Although he has released 17 albums over the years, perhaps his most famous song is “Merry Christmas from the Family,” in which he sings of both the nice and creepy aspects of family gatherings.

He doesn’t often come this far north, so if you’re a fan of Keen or his kind of music, the Bluebird is the place to be.

Tickets are $18, and the show starts at 9.
