The Who had a tall order to fill during last night’s Super Bowl halftime show. The past several years have been a little lackluster ever since the year Janet Jackson coined the term “wardrobe malfunction.” Yes, The Who is obviously old so let’s just get that out of the way. But did they bring it, and bring it well? Well, I’d have to say yes, I think that they did.
The Who had some help from pyrotechnics, smoke and L.E.D. lights, and a lot of it at that. Let’s face it, people like and need theatrics. The Who performed a medley of some of their greatest hits, opening with “Pinball Wizard,” seguing into “Baba O’Riley,” then “Who Are You,” “Tommy” and “Won’t Get Fooled Again.” The band didn’t do anything particularly crazy during their performance, but they sounded great, looked good and proved that despite their age, they are still rock and roll royalty. It was awesome to see Roger Daltrey and Pete Townshend together again on stage as well as a relative newbie to the band, Zak Starkey on drums.
Y0u can watch a clip of the performance here in case you went for a beer run during halftime and missed it. What do you think of the performance. Leave comments below.
