“So gangsta, I’m so thug,
you’re the only one I’m dreamin’ of!”
For those of you who are regular viewers of Leno’s short-lived Primetime show, you will probably remember that Train performed on his show just last night! For those of you who have no idea who Train is….you’re missing out!
Here’s the skinny!
Train is an American band from SanFran, California. The band which now consists of Patrick Monahan on lead vocals, Scott Underwood on drums, and Jimmy Stafford on guitar, tried to get signed by Columbia Records in 1996, but were rejected. Train then decided to produce their self-titled debut album (which cost them $25k, holy cow!), Train. After hearing the record, Columbia Records decided to sign them afterall under Aware Records. Train’s “Meet Virginia” became a hit and helped the album climb to the Billboard top 200 album chart.
The band’s second album, Drops of Jupiter (with a song of the same name that also made it to the Hot 100), was released March 27, 2001. The album was the band’s first to go multi-platinum. It was followed by their third album My Private Nation and their fourth album, For Me, It’s You, which was released in January of 2006 and saw considerably less success.
Train’s latest album is Save Me San Francisco, released October 27, 2009, which includes their hit single “Hey Soul Sister” (which I love, oh-so-much!).
Train will be at the Murat Egyptian Room
