Blake Shelton: HillBilly Bone

This is a “Six Pak” everyone can afford and should have. I don’t think you can get a 6 pack by buying this album or tweeting as much as Blake does himself. Blake Shelton’s latest single and CD “Hillbilly Bone” was released today March 2nd. Blake was busy on “The Early Show” this morning announcing the Academy of Country Music nominations. He had the joy of not only releasing an album but also announcing his girlfriend Miranda Lambert’s 6 nominations. Along with her nominations he himself got one and he lets everyone know on this album they can kiss his country ass.

“Hillbilly Bone” is climbing the chart and he recently performed this song first on stage at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville. His 2nd track “Kiss My Country Ass”  was written by Rhett Akins but explains Blake’s personality perfectly. Blake could be a comedian and it shows in the song “Can’t Afford to Love You.”

He wrote the song “Delilah” himself and had a little bit of a story behind this song. “Miranda’s dog Delilah was where it all started. I was sitting on the tour bus one day and Miranda had to go do something. She asked if I’d watch the dog and I said sure. Miranda walked off the bus and got into her car and left, and Delilah jumped up on the front seat of the bus and watched her go away, just staring off into space like she was devastated Miranda had left. I was sitting there trying to get Delilah’s attention, calling her, and she just completely ignored me. She didn’t even care that I was there. All she cared about was Miranda. I thought, “Well, there’s somebody right here that’ll be here for you and pet you and you don’t even see that.”

The island song scene is more for Kenny but Blake pulls it off nicely in his last song “Almost Alright.” There was one song however I thought deserved a mention at the very last. “You’ll Always Be Beautiful” seems to be written by artist Lee Brice. Blake however cut the song not meaning it to be for Miranda. He hasn’t admitted it is for her yet but once you hear it you’ll know why he recorded it.

There is not one bad song on this album. Blake knows “we all got a hillbilly bone down deep inside” of us.
