Though this album has 23 tracks there is little to say about it. “Crazy Heart” has 3 Academy Award Nominations including Best Song “The Weary Kind.” The movie was also the winner of Golden Globe and Critics’ Choice Award for Best Song and Motion Picture. This Review however is not for the movie it is for the soundtrack.
“Crazy Heart- Deluxe Edition” has 23 songs and music by Jeff Bridges, T Bone Burnett, Stephen Bruton and Ryan Bingham. Colin Farrell even cuts a few songs on this record along with Robert Duvall. Jeff Bridges’ songs in the movie were phenomenal. However, on the soundtrack it is lacking spirit. The songs are original and he does a great job singing them but there is no character to them on the album.
There is something great about this CD for those old time country music lovers. Old time songs have never sounded better coming from Buck Owens, George Jones, Waylon Jennings and Kitty Wells. These are just a few artists with the natural talent of music in their body. Robert Duvall and Colin Farrell should stick to their natural talent, which doesn’t seem to be music. Jeff Bridges should be commended for his musical performance in his movie but not yet on this album.

I will not be buying Crazy Heart. Thank you
