This album could be the best-kept secret of 2009. Orianthi Panagaris is an Australian singer-songwriter and guitarist. With a name like that she has to be hit like fellow Australian Musician Keith Urban.
Most people know Orianthi as the badass blonde guitarist for Michael Jackson in his concert series, This Is It. She also played as the lead guitar for Carrie Underwood at the 51st Grammy Awards. Nothing compares to playing for Michael Jackson and being praised by Steve Vai and Carlos Santana. Santana himself has made it clear he wants Orianthi to take his place as one of the best guitarist if anything happens to him. These accomplishments alone set her at the top.
Orianthi’s titled CD Believe was released in 2009 but hasn’t got much playtime here in the states. Her debut single “According to You” has only hit number 17 in U.S. charts. The music is incredible with her playing the guitar and her voice fits in perfect for the hot rocker chick she is. It’s about time we forget about punk chick Avril, sweet innocent pop Taylor, and concert-cancelling weirdo Lady Gaga and bring in someone with true musical talent.
Each track has its unique sound and it is one of those CD’s you can’t help but to rock out to ever song. Orianthi wrote some of her own songs and reminds us why Michael chose her for his tour. Men if you want a girl that will be hard on the heart and heavy on your eyes pick this up. Women if you need the stereo to be blasting love-hating music I suggest you buy this in a heartbeat.
