Mark Heylmun of Suicide Silence interview

Mark Heylmun of Suicide Silence interview
One of the hardest and most aggressive bands out today is Suicide Silence. They emerged from Riverside California in 2002. Suicide Silence was really just a side project at first. In time they decided to make it a full time project. Thank you for that. Their first full length album off of Century Media entitled The Cleansing debuted at 94 on the billboard 200 chart selling over 7000 copies in 2007....

Lex and Seth of Straight Line Stitch

Lex and Seth of Straight Line Stitch
One of the great things about the Rock Star Mayhem festival is the chance to find more bands for your musical arsenal that you may have never heard before. This year was no different. When Straight Line Stitch appeared on the bill there were mixed feelings about the band. Once they hit the stage they showed that they are a perfect fit for this tour. This band has actually been tearing it up for a while...

Local Music Interview: Neon Love Life

Local Music Interview: Neon Love Life
They’ve empowered many, entertained more, and all the while, lit up the scene we all know and love with a little neon. And as their two-year “bandiversary” approaches, perhaps only their future burns brighter. Since banding together in late 2009, the girls of Neon Love Life have had their sights set on world domination.  Whether they’ve been entertaining the masses with...

An Interview with The Head and the Heart

An Interview with The Head and the Heart
If you don’t know The Head and the Heart is I can almost guarantee it wont be long before you do. They are a band that stems from Seattle. I myself fell in love with the band when my friend who lives in Seattle introduced them to me. The band hit Indianapolis twice this summer and to a well respected crowd each time. They will be returning next spring and I guarantee it will be on a very different...

Concert Review: My Morning Jacket at White River State Park

Concert Review: My Morning Jacket at White River State Park
My Morning Jacket rolled into town on Sunday night, having just played Lollapalooza the previous night, to perform at White River State Park for local Hoosier fans as well as the “Jacketheads” that followed them from Chicago. My Morning Jacket, also known as MMJ, is regarded as one of the best live bands of my generation and with good reason too.   After watching their opening band Neko Case,...

This Sunday August 7th marks another year of the greatest live Metal show that has ever existed. Since 2008 Kevin Lyman has brought some of the greatest bands that have ever existed in this group of genres. Emily Poe Project: An Experiment in Friendship, Music and Serendipity

Emily Poe Project: An Experiment in Friendship, Music and Serendipity
The Emily Poe Project is a young acoustic duo/friends Emily Hoffman (23) and Austin Scholl (19).  Their quiet music is almost like overhearing whispered confessions.  I have spent days watching their vlogs and listening to their music on YouTube and before I even met them for the interview, I felt like we had been friends for a while. The acoustic nature of their music makes it easy...

An Interview With Ironsides

An Interview With Ironsides
Local Metalcore group Ironsides is skyrocketing through the ranks, going from hometown heroes to regional titans. They’ll be playing Warped Tour in Cleveland, and have a new album set to release on July 22 during their show at the ES Jungle in Broad Ripple. I was lucky enough to catch up with Josh, Nic, Robby, Butters, and Zakk before their practice recently to discuss just what Ironsides is.   Credit:...

Warped Tour Interview: New Years Day

Warped Tour Interview: New Years Day
“We’re gonna go home.  We’re gonna finish our record, we’re going to get signed to a new record label ’cause we just got off our old one and tour our lives away forever and ever and then hopefully next year do Warped Tour again…and again and again and again and again.”-Ashley Costello, 7/6/10 When we last heard from these California dark rockers, they were without...

Warped Interview: Chris Demakes of Less than Jake

Warped Interview: Chris Demakes of Less than Jake
Less than Jake is quickly approaching their 20th anniversary as a band. They are definitely one band that found a way to withstand the test of time and probably one of the biggest Warped Tour veterans to exist ever. They have seen it all, yet always manage to stay right underneath the radar of too mainstream. LTJ first joined Warped Tour in 1997 and have played many times since. “We’ve done three...
