Jimi Hendrix Revamped!
Okay, I have to admit that until this past January, I had no idea who Jimi Hendrix was. This semester, in order to fulfill a degree requirement, I took a class on “The Music of Jimi Hendrix” and it has proven to be one of the best classes I’ve ever taken!
In the mid-60’s audio engineer and producer Eddie Kramer worked on several of Hendrix’s albums including the...
Indianapolis Concert: Norah Jones at the Murat Theatre
Norah Jones will be at the Murat Theatre this Saturday as see makes a stop here in Indy touring in support of here most recent album, “The Fall”. Her unique brand of music and awe inspiring talent should provide concertgoers with a very enjoyable evening. Jones literally burst onto the music scene in 2002 with her debut album, “Come Away with Me”. The album received five...
Lil Wayne heads to jail
No dental emergency nor courthouse fire can save Lil Wayne now. The rapper was sentenced to one year in jail and began serving his time immediately following the court hearing today.
Wayne will serve his sentence at Rikers Island jail in New York. He was arrested in July 2007 for carrying a loaded .40 caliber semiautomatic gun on his tour bus.

The Join at the Bluebird
The Join will perform at the Bluebird in Bloomington tomorrow, March 4.
The band is actually a combination of members from two different bands, The New Deal and the Disco Biscuits. It was founded by the drummer and keyboard player of The New Deal — the other members rotate in and out depending on tour scheduling and geographical factors. The music is electronica-based and highly improvisational....
Band of Horses Return May 18
I have been anticipating a new Band of Horses album ever since I listened to their most recent offering, “Cease to Begin”. Lucky me, I don’t have to wait much longer. The group has announced their third album, “Infinite Arms”, will reach the masses on May 18. One thing that is a bit puzzling is that the album, as of now, doesn’t have a label to be released on.
Famed indie label Sub Pop...
Artist Interview: 1-on-1 with Janus
The band that I am sitting with today needs no introduction. They bring to the stage a sound that is nearly impossible to replicate and a certain style that deserves some attention. They are dressed exactly how they sound, their album cover matches their style to perfection, and their sound begs for more. If I had to rate them on a scale of 1 to 10 as far as their overall image and branding is...
Concert Review: The Avett Brothers…Unbelievable.
Well, well, well…Indianapolis, I stand corrected. The show this past Sunday was not made up of screaming teenagers, but rather mature adults enjoying terrific tunes. There were also people singing the words to nearly every song the Avett Brothers sang, no matter how old it was. So there ya know, you never know until you’re there and I admit, my bad Indy, my bad. I must say, it was a beautiful...
Radio Radio Presents Split Lip Rayfield.
Tomorrow night starting at 8 p.m. Endiana will be opening for Split Lip Rayfield at Radio Radio. Split Lip Rayfieldconsists of three “bad-asses” that contribute to a sound unlike any other. They venture to find a medium between bluegrass and punk rock, and they are pleased with their success in doing so. (Please refer to the YouTube clip included in this post.) SLR has been making their...
It’s Good to Be Alive: Jack’s Mannequin at the Murat
For me, the appeal of music isn’t the beat or the head-bang factor in a club. For me, the artistry comes from the lyrics. This is why Coldplay is one of my absolute favorite artists, along with Death Cab, Postal Service and similar bands that express soul through their lyrics rather than spitting out just another catchy beat.
What makes the lyrics even more touching is when you know that the group...
