Yuri, Chandelier Ballroom, First Degree Martyr, Stagnant Pools, and Emily Poe Project @ Vollrath
Occasionally The Vollrath likes to throw a curveball and have a hodgepodge of music genres in one night. This is always fun, it gives me a chance to review a band on its own merits. The risk though is if the audience or the other bands are going to be tolerant of the range of entertainment. I think the best part of the night was First Degree Martyr being such a rapt audience for Emily Poe Project. ...
Brad Odom’s “Blood and Dreams” CD Release Party at Locals Only
To open up the CD Release party, a mini songwriter circle with Cootie Crabtree, Eddie Brummett, and Chuck D DeLong performed. Cootie is an alt country performer from Indianapolis. He has a sharp wit to go with the rugged voice, which suits his music. You can follow him on Facebook http://www.facebook.com/CootieCrabtree?sk=info/. Eddie Brummett is a folk singer from Indianapolis. I have seen...
Dave DeMaggio, The VooDoo Project, Mark Alexander and the Good Shame, Harvesting Murphy, and Jason and the Punknecks @ The Vollrath
Dave DeMaggio is from Kokomo, IN and is an ole rocker that still is going, lucky us. He is a one-man band who does not know the meaning of quit. Seeing music trends come and go through the years he sticks with what he knows. His songs range from jam 70s epic-like to beat driven fun rock and roll to a bluesy funk. Easy and talkative on stage, everyone is a friend. No slouch on the guitar,...
Concert Review: Breathe Electric Throws a Heck of a Party
Before I get to the main act of the night I just want to touch on one opener in particular.
I got the chance to catch We are Forever twice this past weekend. The first night was at The Irving and I was there mainly to support locals and see some friends before we all hit the books and start college.
I had reviewed the band a little over a month ago and it wasn’t the worse review but it wasn’t...
MSM Fest Day 2: Full of Young Talent
MSM Fest Day 1 was a pretty decent success. The bands did well, the turn out was decent. I was geared up and ready to go back for day 2. I couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful day outside. MSM Fest day 2 was located in Morristown at the Community park. The day started off a little behind schedule but not too late.
The day kicked off with Razorback Llamas, the band consist mostly of covers...

Grandpa Egg, Chance Wagner, Brian Vidmar, Ryan Puett, James Fisher, and Modern Motion on August 8 @ The Vollrath
Attending as many concerts as I do there are nights it sometimes runs all together. Five bands of one genre, around the third band, I am catching myself losing concentration. The Vollrath does some crazy ass nights of music occasionally that puts a hodgepodge in a blender and pushes the pulse button. These are the nights I, and most of the audience, sit up and take notice as the bands perform. ...
Concert Review: Sara Bareilles at the Indiana State Fair
I would like to begin this by saying what happened on Saturday night is still very surreal for me. I have been trying to process everything in the last fourty-eight hours and it has been rather rough for me personally. Where I was sitting to review my concert was the location in which the majority of the stage landed.
Thankfully my friend and I had seen the wind and sand start to pick up and had began...
MSM Fest Day 1: A Little Acoustic turned Rock
MSM Fest took place this past weekend it was a two day event hosting a lot of the younger talent in Indianapolis. Its a show to benefit the Morristown schools band program. The turn out the first night was a decent one and the line up over-all was good.
The day started off with Logan Long. He kicked things off with a bowl full of nerves. He started off a little nervous. It was clear to see, he messed...
Without Further Ado…I Bring To You IDENTITY FESTIVAL ’11
Indy still has a LONG way to go when it comes to belting out a top notch electro music festival, but from my many years of experience, personal attendance and bits and pieces of past memories… I’d say that they are about on the right track to getting there! So, with all sincerity, let’s hope that the fan base agrees and helps this under-rated genre in Indiana expand it’s claws...
The Hedons, MisUnderstood, Giraffes Eating Lions, and the Dockers on August 6 @ The Vollrath
Another night of two good concerts, two venues, same night and only one me, life is sometimes not fair. The reason for the show not to be missed was that it was a fundraiser for “Nobody’s Listening, Indianapolis”. Nobody’s Listening is an effort to get deserving bands some much-needed exposure. Organized by Giraffes Eating Lion’s Dustin Parks and Deezen’s Kelsey Simpson this show...
