Chuck Wicks is one of country music’s sexiest bachelors. And I had a chance to catch up with him backstage at the 8 Seconds Saloon before his show. He put on an amazing concert with lots of new material from his upcoming album. One of those songs, being his brand new single, “Hold That Thought,” which Chuck dished about to me during my 1 on 1 with him. Check it out:
Ashlie: We’re backstage at the 8 Seconds Saloon in Indianapolis…is this the first time playing this venue?
Chuck Wicks: No, this is my third time. I love it every time.
Ashlie: You’re pretty busy out on the road right now…
Chuck Wicks: We’re all over the place. Last night I was in New Hampshire, the night before I was in Maine? I don’t even know where I was actually. And now we’re here, its great. Tomorrow I’ll be back in Nashville. We’re doing a free show July 2nd at the Riverfront in Nashville. It’s an anniversary show celebrating 25 years of General Jackson Showboating.
Ashlie: Awesome! It’ll be a big crowd I’m sure. You have a new single out, “Hold That Thought.” Not only is the song very steamy but the new video is very hot.
Chuck Wicks: I know. I enjoyed making that video. It was actually a little awkward though. It’s a very very sexual video. Julia Jones, who plays my love interest, did an amazing job. She brought a lot to the set that I could never bring. She’s so great at what she does. I remember asking her…listen you’re the real deal, you’re the real actress here, so you gonna have to walk me through this. Of course walking me through this was all the make-up scenes. But she did great, it was good time. The video is in the Top 20, so thank you fans, keep voting.
Ashlie: When do the new album come out?
Chuck Wicks: The new album will be out late September. “Hold That Thought” is out now, you can download it at iTunes.
Ashlie: I have to talk about this…You are on the cover of People Magazine, as one of the Hottest Men in Country Music. And you’re in great company, Tim McGraw, Kenny, Keith, Brad…
Chuck Wicks: It doesn’t even sound right! It’s crazy! I was walking through the airport. And you know everyone flips through US Weekly and all those other gossip magazines. Then there’s People Magazine and I was on the cover…it was crazy.
Ashlie: Did you buy a few copies?
Chuck Wicks: I did buy one and I already gave it away. Like I bought it and was reading it, someone came up to me, so I signed it for them and gave it away.
Ashlie: Awe, that was very sweet.
Chuck Wicks: So now I gotta buy another one. I got to send one to my mom.
Ashlie: Definitely. Mom has to get one. Now, I know you’ve done some really big tours. You were also just on stage during CMA Fest with Brad Paisley and Darius Rucker…out of all the artists you’ve played or performed with, is there any you’d love to collaborate with in the future?
Chuck Wicks: I would love to go on tour with Keith Urban. I also love Rascall Flatts and I’m a big fan of the Zac Brown Band. But I just love music in general. If it’s a good vibe and a great show. I mean Kenny Chesney puts on a great show and Brad Paisley is amazing. So any of those guys, that are just out there doing their thing, I’d love to be apart of that. Brian McKnight is one of my biggest idols and I got to write with him in LA. So these little moments I’m having throughout my career, is just amazing to me. I’m just gonna keep on working.
Ashlie: Last question, I know Coop’s become quite the celebrity dog. Is she here tonight?
Chuck Wicks: Coop is here tonight.
Ashlie: And is she a good road dog?
Chuck Wicks: Cooper is a smaller dog. But you know I travel all the time. I love love these dogs. Sweetest dogs in the world.
