Country star Carrie Underwood will make her big screen debut in the new film Soul Surfer. The movie is based on the true story of 13-year-old surfer Bethany Hamilton who lost her arm in a shark attack and went on to compete and win professional championships. Underwood will play a church youth leader and will star alongside Dennis Quaid and Helen Hunt.
This may be her first big screen job, but Underwood has gotten practice in a guest starring role in How I Met Your Mother, which will air in March. Filming on Surfer begins this month, but first, Underwood will be in attendance to sing the National Anthem at this Sunday’s Super Bowl.
