Hello, Indy..I’m back! …What? You didn’t notice I was gone?…I’ll pretend I didn’t hear that…
So I know its a little ways off, but I’m pretty darn excited about this particular concert: Citizen Cope is coming to the Vogue in March!
Citizen Cope is the pseudonym of American musician Clarence Greenwood (Clarence? No wonder…;) He was raised in D.C., Cope was signed on to Capitol Records, but he didn’t release an album until he signed with DreamWorks Records lable in 2000. There, he released a self-titled album in September of 2002. To promote the album, he toured with Nelly Furtado. Cope also wrote and produced a track on Santana’s album Shaman relased in Ocober of 2002.
After issues arose between Cope and his label, he bought out the contract with his label and relased his next album, The Clarence Greenwood Recordings, with Arista Records and RCA Records. In 2005, Cope toured the US to promote the album, followed by the release of this third album, Every waking Moment, in 2006.
Cope left RCA Records in Early 2008. his song “Let the Drummer Kick” was featured in the 2008 Acura TSX commercial. In 2008, Cope sold 100,000 tickets in North America, and did more than 120 shows (not including college and festival appearances).
Cope’s next album, The Rainwater LP, will be released next month.
