On Thursday night, August 5th, the heat inside the Earth House was nothing compared to the heat created by Gold Motel. By far, the focal piece of the night, Greta, and the excessively talented lads that make up Gold Motel, put on an amazing show at the intimate, retro venue, the Earth House. Fans of all ages we able to attend the show and no matter the age, the crowd was completely captivated. The band played key tunes from their first LP, Summerhouse. The sound was dead on, and each band member had the skill and talent to stand alone, a rarity, for sure. The sound a listener comes to love on the recorded album is only improved in Gold Motel’s live show. Greta’s vocals showed no sign of nerves or imperfections. She and the band’s energy were contagious and the sound was beyond wonderful. They even treated the audience to a song not found on Summerhouse, “Hurricane”. Like I said from day one, this band is going places and going fast. The band has been getting press like crazy, including Spin.com, Nylon magazine (the hippest place to be seen ever, possibly), and are jumping on tour with Fun. in November, which is going to propel them even further. Gold Motel, is going to make it, make sure you are there for the ride.
