I was recently turned on to a band called “Freelance Whales,” with a name as like that i could only hope the music sounded just as crazy.  To my great delight… it did! they have this wonderful blend of off time rhythm and electro- inspired beats, combined with a creative old time string section.  Including the voicings of guitars, mandolins, banjos and more. The downbeat style of their music fits like a glove to their swelling vocal harmonies, and angelic vocal leads.  If you like me would love the chance to see this all go down live! Then you are in luck.  June 10th at Locals only the Freelance Whales will be blowing minds.  If you can make it out around 8:30 pm be sure to support Peter Wolf Crier who will be performing their melodic, and oddly vintage indie jams in support of Freelance Whales.  PWC is signed to local label Jagjaguwar, who has an impeccable reputation for only supporting the best the indie music scene has to offer. I will be out of town on the 10th, and i am beyond disappointed by this, so if you are in town go and see this one for me.  Then leave me a comment and let me know how it went.
