Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers have unveiled a lengthy US arena tour as the classic rockers anticipate the forthcoming release of “Mojo,” their first studio effort in eight years.
The Rock and Roll Hall of Famers will kick off the extensive run May 6 in Raleigh, NC, followed by concerts in 36 cities throughout North America. The outing currently concludes with an Aug. 27 performance in Saratoga Springs, NY.
Tom Petty will be gracing the ears, not breaking the hearts, of thousands when he comes to Indianapolis for his concert at Verizon Wireless Music Center on July 10, 2010. We all love it when Tom Petty come to Indianapolis. The full itinerary is listed below.
Special guests Joe Cocker, Drive-By Truckers, My Morning Jacket and Crosby, Stills and Nash will divvy up opening duties for the tour. Ticket pre-sales for several shows begin March 3. We have a link below for you.
The new road trip coincides with the expected spring release of “Mojo,” the band’s long-awaited studio set, which still has no confirmed drop date. Fans who purchase concert tickets online will receive an MP3 download of every track on the forthcoming album, according to a press release. Two tracks–”First Flash of Freedom” and “Good Enough”–will be available for immediate download, and fans can access the remainder of the songs on the album’s physical release date.
Online ticket purchases will also come with a handful of live tracks recorded during the 2010 tour, which will be delivered later in the year.
In November, Tom Petty and crew unveiled “The Live Anthology,” which features hits and classic original cuts as well as several of the band’s favorite cover tunes, such as The Grateful Dead’s “Friend of the Devil,” Fleetwood Mac’s “Oh Well” and James Brown’s “Good, Good Lovin.”
The anthology is now available in four configurations: digital download; a four-disc, 48-track set; a deluxe box set and a seven-album vinyl box set.
