No dental emergency nor courthouse fire can save Lil Wayne now. The rapper was sentenced to one year in jail and began serving his time immediately following the court hearing today.
Wayne will serve his sentence at Rikers Island jail in New York. He was arrested in July 2007 for carrying a loaded .40 caliber semiautomatic gun on his tour bus.
“He knew what he had to do, and he’s doing it,” said his lawyer, Stacey Richman.
With good behavior he could potentially only serve about eight months in the slammer. Wayne released his latest album, Rebirth, earlier this month.
