The Awesomeness That is Ok Go

Ok Go recently released their new single “This Too Shall Pass” with another masterpiece of a music video.

For those of you who are undying fans of Ok Go and their music, you may recall a certain music video involving several treadmills and some level of acrobatics (see below). There was also that back-yard dance number they put to “A Million Ways to Be Cruel.” Come on, who doesn’t love those routines?!

Ok Go is forever thinking of new ways to break the mold, and with “This Too Shall Pass” they’ve done it again. Utilizing a marching band and what seem to be moss monsters playing various wind instruments, Ok Go produces a song that not only has a catchy tune, but a music video that makes it even better. [An interesting tidbit: The marching band in the video is from our very own Notre Dame.]

A little background for those of you who have no idea who Ok Go is:
Originally from Chicago, IL, Ok Go was formed in 1988, comprising of lead vocalist Damian Kulash, bassist Tim Nordwind, drummer/percussionist Dan Kanopka, keyboardist and guitarist Andy Duncan, who was then replaced in 2005 by Andy Ross.

Ok Go is best known for their video for “Here it Goes Again” which won a Grammy in ’07 for “Best Short-Form Music Video”:

The band released their self-titled debut album in 2002, after gaining popularity from their exposure on This American Life.  The band’s second album Oh No was released in 2005, followed by their most recent album Of the Colour of the Blue Sky which was released this past January. The album hosts the single “This Too Shall Pass.”
