If you’re looking to see some outstanding live music this week, The Bluebird down in Bloomington has a great lineup.
Tonight (Monday, Oct. 26) Mason Jennings will perform. Jennings is a member of Jack Johnson’s Brushfire Records troupe, and brings a similar laid-back, breezy vibe to most of his songs. I have seen him perform as the opener for Johnson at Verizon Wireless Music Center, and I’d love to see him again in a more intimate setting.
Tomorrow (Tuesday, Oct. 27) you have the chance to see Lotus. Lotus has a very unique sound: they mix electronic dance music with instrumental rock. They also blend their music with an electrifying light show, giving their shows a ton of energy — they have rapidly become a must-see live act for anyone who loves to have a good time.
Finally, on Friday, Oct. 30, Dave Barnes will perform at the Bluebird. Barnes is a master when it comes to writing smooth pop tunes, and he’s fresh off of recording his latest album, which is due out right around the start of 2010. Audience members will have a chance to get a first taste of the new material as well as some of the old, I’m sure. Having seen him perform live multiple times, I can tell you it will be a really fun show, and it’s definitely one I’m looking forward to attending.
Tickets to all three of these events, plus many more, can be found here.
