Battle of the Bands Finals will send Local Band to London

X103 is about to give one Indianapolis-based band an incredible opportunity to make their dream of hitting it big come true.  This Thursday, April 16 The Last Good Year or Henry French & The Shameless will be competing in X103′s Battle of the Bands Finals at The Hard Rock Cafe in downtown Indianapolis.  Whoever wins will be one step closer to playing in London at Hard Rock Calling – an event that the likes of Bruce Springsteen, The Killers, and Dave Matthews Band.  It really is the chance of a lifetime.  (No pressure now guys!)

OH… VERY IMPORTANT POINT here… it’s FREE!!!  You get to hear incredible music for free.  Can’t beat that!

Here’s the deal… This Battle starts out around 8:30.  Before the music starts there will be a contest in which a listener will win a trip as well!  Then the music will kick off about 10:00 pm.  I’ll be there… and you should definitely should too.  This is your chance to listen to the music of tomorrow… today.  Also in attendance will be IndyConcerts.com’s own Ricky Potts.  He was asked to be a judge and definitely brings his musical knowledge to this battle.

To get you ready for Thursday night I need to introduce you to these bands!

First up is The Last Good Year.

The Last Good Year is an Indianapolis favorite.  Being crowned the winners of the 2007 “Indy Music Scene Battle of the Bands” and taking home $10K, after only a short time of playing together as TLGY, was one of the many accomplishments that lead to the release of The Last Good Year’s self titled debut album. Spending most of 2007 developing their fan-base, The Last Good Year quickly became an Indianapolis favorite. Along with their win in the Battle of the Bands, they were voted into the “Best of 2007” as a part of the leading local art publication, Nuvo (www.nuvo.net).

It has been said of The Last Good Year that this is “The only true rock ‘n’ roll feel you can find from a modern day band. Every song will stick with you. It’s bands like this that can bring back the true passion of rock and appreciation for musical talent.” (iTunes review).

The Last Good Year continues to play across the Midwest and will expand nation-wide in 2009. This band will captivate you. You will be singing their songs as if you’ve heard them many times before.

“It’s definitely an audience-friendly feel, the sort of arena rock that defined several generations of concertgoers…” (Paul Pogue, Nuvo.net)

And up against The Last Good Year is none other than Henry French & The Shameless.

One very reputable Indianapolis source said this about Henry French:

Drawing on strong local talent and writing appealing power pop songs is a great way to get heard…
-Nuvo

I also happen to love how they describe themselves on their MySpace:

*Henry French* Vocals, Guitars, Tortured little songs

*Derek Hanson* Drummer, Sarcastic Bastard, Strawberry Thunder.

*K.C. Carson* Guitars, vocals, Vintage 80’s concerts shirts, pirate.

*Eric Evans* Bass, Disappearing act.

Love it.

Check out both of their music before the show so you can rock it out with me and Ricky.  I think I’m going to drag Barrett along with me too.  So this is a chance to meet some of your IndyConcerts.com team as well.  Should be a good time!  And it’s free!  Yeah… See you all there!
