Okay, I have to admit that until this past January, I had no idea who Jimi Hendrix was. This semester, in order to fulfill a degree requirement, I took a class on “The Music of Jimi Hendrix” and it has proven to be one of the best classes I’ve ever taken!
In the mid-60′s audio engineer and producer Eddie Kramer worked on several of Hendrix’s albums including the first, entitled Are You Experienced. Hendrix died in 1970, yet Kramer continued to co-produce 3 Hendrix albums post-humously. Yesterday, Kramer released a Hendrix album, consisting of some new tracks, and some re-engineered tracks consisting of previously released titles.
Valleys of Neptune includes revamped versions of “Stone Free” “Red House” and “Fire.”
