Music News: Brooks & Dunn call it quits

Country duo Brooks & Dunn announced today on their Web site that they are in fact done making music together.

“After 20 years of making music and riding this trail together, we have agreed as a duo that it’s time to call it a day,” the post on their site says. “This ride has been everything and more than we could ever have dreamed…. We owe it all to you, the fans. If you hear rumors, don’t believe them, it’s just time.”

Brooks & Dunn emerged in the 90s and became kings of the line dance with their hit, “Boot Scootin’ Boogie.” They went on to become one of the most successful and popular country musicians and have sold more records than any other twosome with the exception of Simon & Garfunkel. Out of their 40 released singles, half have went on to reach #1.

Brooks & Dunn will release their final album, one of greatest hits, on Sept. 8. They will finish up their country music reign in 2010 with the appropriately named, The Last Rodeo Tour.
