Looks like Heath Ledger’s legacy will float on in an animated music video he directed for indie rock band Modest Mouse, according to the Associated Press. The video is for “King Rat” off the band’s 2007 album, “We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank.”
Modest Mouse spokeswoman, says that frontman Isaac Brock “is supporting the completion of the video in honor of Heath’s last piece of work as a director.” The video was not completed due to Ledger’s death in 2008. The band will release the video this year.
This was not the first music video directed by Ledger. He directed Ben Harper’s “Morning Yearning” video and according to MTV News, Ledger was obsessed with English singer-songwriter Nick Drake. Ironically, Drake died of a prescription drug overdose in 1974 at age 26. It is reported that Ledger shot and edited a video for Drake’s song, “Black Eyed Dog” in which he is seen drowning himself in a bathtub at the end. MTV News reported that the video has not yet been released commercially.
Check out the Ben Harper video here. The song and video are both really quite beautiful. Ben Harper\’s \”Morning Yearning\” video directed by Heath Ledger
