Steven Tyler quits Aerosmith

Please say it ain’t so, Joe. Unfortunately, Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry reveals that frontman Steven Tyler has most likely quit the legendary band.

“Steven quit as far as I can tell,” Perry said to the Las Vegas Sun.

Tyler has reportedly become distant with his bandmates. According to Perry, he “has had no contact with me or the other band members.” Tyler has expressed interest in concentrating on his solo project, “Brand Tyler.”

Aerosmith’s strife seemed to be visible after a string of incidents plagued the band’s summer tour ending with Tyler falling off the stage during a performance, which consequently ended the tour. Who knew that it would bring the end of an era as well? However, Perry is genuinely focused on moving forward with the band even if that means adding a new vocalist.

“As far as replacing Steve, it’s not just about that, it’s also four guys that play extremely well together, and I’m not going to see that go to waste. I really don’t know what path it’s going to take at this point, but we’ll probably find somebody else that will sing in those spots where we need a singer.”

Aerosmith has not released a studio album since 2001, and Tyler has been said to not have written a song with Perry for more than a decade. Together they wrote one of their biggest hits, “Walk This Way,” among a plethora of others. The split will end more than 40 years of their musical relationship.
