It’s not unheard of for celebrities with hot careers to decide to hit the books and get a degree (i.e. James Franco). However, it is completely different when you have a hip-hop superstar who decides he wants to trade the mic for cleats.

So it goes for Black Eyed Peas’ Will.i.am., who has set his sights on none other than the NFL. He took to his blog and a video posted on his Web site to beg Miami Dolphin’s owner Stephen Ross for an opportunity to try out for the team as well as profess his undying love for the game.

“I always loved the game of American football,” said Will. “I’m sad that I never followed my football dreams. Lately I’ve been thinking, is it too late to do it now? No way!”

Apparently, he was somewhat of a football legend in high school and was known for his “cheetah speed.” He also says that he can out-run Reggie Bush. Right.

“I’m not lying about how fast I am. So I wanna put this talent to use. I wanna try out for the Miami Dolphins.”

Maybe I’m just a dope who knows nothing about football (I am a Bears fan after all), but isn’t there more to football than just running fast?

This is like when people audition for American Idol who are atrocious but actually truly believe in their soul that they’re the real deal because their friends tell them so. If I were Will.i.am., I’d just stick to music.
