One of the benefits to my job is the people I meet.  I am not talking about the bands this time; this is about the random fans I meet.  Many I times talk my way into an empty seat at a table with strangers to review and end up striking up a conversation.  We talk music at first of course but sometimes I get lucky...

As reported by the Indianapolis Star, a gust of wind knocked down the rigging on the main stage at the Indiana State Fair Saturday night, causing the stage to collapse, killing three and injuring 24 others. I am not a closet Taylor Swift fan, I am a full blown, proud, Taylor Swift fan. I always thought it was because of her innocence and ability to write songs that are extraordinarily catchy. Sometimes I plan, mark it down on my coffee stained battered calendar, confirm on Facebook and still miss important details.  Like the concert has been moved up an hour.  Eeeeek!  I missed the first two bands. I have not been to The Irving for this kind of show before.  Usually it is an Americana or folk music. ... 

The Vollrath held the after-party for the Dudefest Friday and Saturday.  Both nights a standing room only crowd continued their heavy metal love fest.  This music has a following, you can talk to their fans and they can rattle off a history of their favorite local bands. Now I do not go out of my way to hear this... 

Last night at The Irving Theater, I attended my first Songwriter’s Circle.  The four talented songwriters gathered up by Robin Coleman made it a priority on my future calendar.  Jessi Curtis, Cari Ray, Tim Wilsbach, and Nick Ivanovich brought their A game.  There was a nice easy flow of song set ups, fellow artist...
