A Match Made in Folk Heaven
Joanna Newsom’s tour for her recently released triple album “Have One on Me” just got a lot more interesting. Fleet Foxes frontman Robin Pecknold will be opening for the talented folk star on six of her dates. March 31st in Bloomington at the Buskirk-Chumley Theatre just happens to be one of those six.
Pecknold’s talents, much like Newsom, are endless. Fronting what is quite...
Real Estate and Woods Bring Their Unique Brand of Music to Bloomington
One of Indie Rock’s best new bands will be venturing down to Bloomington on March 23. Real Estate will be playing The Bishop with label mates Woods on what will be a pretty amazing double bill. Ticket information can be found here.

Album Review: Yeasayer “Odd Blood”
It’s been a while since we heard anything from terrific experimental band Yeasayer, but they have returned with their sophomore effort, “Odd Blood”. The follow up to their outstanding debut “All Hour Cymbals” is much more poppy than the former and is step down for the Brooklyn group. Upon first listen, I had to remind myself that this is the same group that gave me such great tracks such...
Phoenix Continue On Their American Takeover
Ok let’s face it “Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix” by Phoenix was hands down the best album released last year. Followed closely by “Veckatimest” by Grizzly Bear, and though that has no relevance to this story I plug the mighty Grizzly Bear every chance I get but I digress. So what better way to spend your free time between Coachella and Bonnaroo than to tour the US. Unfortunately I have to report...
Finally! A Festival to Get Excited About
It’s getting that time of the year when a slew of festivals are releasing their lineups which will be received with excitement or utter disappointment. We all know festivals like Bonnaroo (decent lineup this year) and Coachella (very good lineup this year), but I would like to give you an early update on what is a truly a festival to get excited about. Pitchfork.com is a daily visit for me, so why...
the new girl.
Hello Indianapolis, I’m Laura, a new staff writer for Indyconcerts.com. Although I could divulge my deepest secrets and life long goals in this article, I guess I’ll keep this introduction short and sweet so there is something to look forward to in the future. “Always keep them wanting more,” right? I recently graduated from DePauw University and although PR/marketing...
Artist Interview: One-on-One with Arden Kaywin
The first time I saw this woman she was on tour with Curtis Peoples and Keaton Simons. I had never heard of her, and it took me weeks to get her name right in my mind. Her music, though, stayed there from the first chord. Her stage presence is incredible as she dances around and moves from left to right, and up and down. Her voice is that of the best in the business and her lyrics match that...

Indie rockers unite for AIDS benefit album
In 1993, Nirvana, Sonic Youth, Soundgarden, the Smashing Pumpkins and Pavement brought AIDS activism into the bedrooms of grunge-obsessed teens on the benefit album “No Alternative,” marrying music to message in a way that registered strongly with Generation X.
The project, organized by the Red Hot Organization – an international production company dedicated to fighting AIDs...

Artist Interview: 1-on-1 with eMOTION@LARGE
I am sitting here with a band that I myself just came across. A band that can not decide if they want to be from the L.A. area of the desert in Phoenix I introduce to you eMOTION@LARGE. I am talking with Noah East, Indianapolis based piano extraordinaire. Noah is a long time friend of mine and I have enjoyed seeing him play on numerous occasions. He is an incredibly driven musician and is in a great position to become the next big thing from the Indianapolis area. Band Interview: The Broderick!
I had the great pleasure of sitting down with 4 of the coolest dudes I’ve met so far in my adventures of interviewing musicians. These guys are passionate about their music and can joke around with the best of them. They were formerly known as the 806 Main st. But now heav been rockin’ the new name for a while and kickin’ ass and turning heads every since. These guys have a great...

Indie band turns itself into a company instead of signing record deal
An American band has registered itself as a company as an alternative to signing a record deal.
New York band Francis And The Lights have incorporated themselves and received an investment of $100,000 from the Normative Music Company rather than sign a conventional contract.
Speaking about the deal, Normative’s Jake Lodwick likened the arrangement to an Internet start-up working with a venture...
