No matter how hard I try, I just can’t explain what I hear when I listen to a Pretty Lights album. From a full-length to an EP I am just overcome by beats and by an almost forced hip-hop sound. It is rare for me to listen to a female singer and actually like what I hear. I don’t know if it is the fact that I feel most of their voices all sound the same, or the thought of them writing lyrics that they could never relate to. But when I first heard the voice of the band I am sitting with today I practically fell off my chair. Not only does her voice give you chills but the instrumentals... 

The band that I am sitting with today truly understands what it takes to put on a rock show. The first time I saw these guys perform was at a battle of the bands put on by the Hard Rock Cafe. They did not win the battle, but they left a lasting impression. Their lyrics are honest, stemming from real life experiences. You can even see it on his face as he sings. I have to be honest.  I do not like rap.  I am sick of hearing songs from people who claim to be from the “ghetto” and have lived such terrible lives but yet drive nice cars and are covered in all of the nicest jewelry.   I have a few rap artists that I listen to, like 50 Cent, Eminem, Dr. Dre, and a few others.  I now have to add one more name to that list.  Enter the voice that I am sitting...

I am a celebrity.  Well, maybe not yet, but I am serving, over the next three Thursdays, as a celebrity guest for the 2009 Battle of the Bands at Hard Rock Cafe in downtown Indianapolis.  The event is free to the public, and is all ages as well.  That is something hard to find anymore, especially since the hot spot freshly turned all ages venue, the Music Mill, closed it’s doors last month. ...
