IndyConcerts Weekly Recap 3/1-3/5

This was the first week of March and I can imagine everyone in Indianapolis, myself included, is begging for warmer weather. There’s only so much we can take. Plus warmer weather means out door concerts! We love the murat but there’s nothing like partying at The Lawn or Verizon Wireless Music Center. Native Americans must have had a warm weather dance…if so lets all dance our hearts out this weekend. Anyway here’s what we talked about this week, check ‘em out if you missed it.

2010 Country Megaticket: Tim McGraw, Brad Paisley hop on Megaticket bandwagon

Brad Paisley, Tim McGraw and Brooks & Dunn lead a list of top country talent on the menu for this year’s nationwide Country Megaticket offering. The country music “season ticket” will allow fans to watch a series of shows throughout the year from the same seat at a local outdoor venue…

Concert Review: Julian Casablancas in Los Angeles

The world wasn’t exactly clamoring for a solo project by Julian Casablancas [ tickets ], yet The Strokes’ frontman delivered an interesting effort with “Phrazes for the Young” and has backed it up with an impressive live show. The New York-born singer capped off his November Friday-night Los…

Sunday, April 18th will mark the 45th annual Academy of Country Music Awards. Reba McEntire and Blake Shelton announced nominations today on The Early Show. Reba will be back as the host for the 12th year. The fans will have their chance to pick their favorites this year as the previous years…

Radio Radio Presents Split Lip Rayfield.

Tomorrow night starting at 8 p.m. Endiana will be opening for Split Lip Rayfield at Radio Radio. Split Lip Rayfieldconsists of three “bad-asses” that contribute to a sound unlike any other. They venture to find a medium between bluegrass and punk rock, and they are pleased with their success in doing…

Concert Review: The Avett Brothers…Unbelievable.

Well, well, well…Indianapolis, I stand corrected. The show this past Sunday was not made up of screaming teenagers, but rather mature adults enjoying terrific tunes.  There were also people singing the words to nearly every song the Avett Brothers sang, no matter how old it was. So there ya know, you never know…

Orianthi: Believe

This album could be the best-kept secret of 2009. Orianthi Panagaris is an Australian singer-songwriter and guitarist.  With a name like that she has to be hit like fellow Australian Musician Keith Urban. Most people know Orianthi as the badass blonde guitarist for Michael Jackson in his…

Blake Shelton: HillBilly Bone

This is a “Six Pak” everyone can afford and should have. I don’t think you can get a 6 pack by buying this album or tweeting as much as Blake does himself. Blake Shelton’s latest single and CD “Hillbilly Bone” was released today March 2nd. Blake was busy on “The Early Show” this morning announcing the…

Artist Interview: 1-on-1 with Janus

The band that I am sitting with today needs no introduction. They bring to the stage a sound that is nearly impossible to replicate and a certain style that deserves some attention. They are dressed exactly how they sound, their album cover matches their style to perfection, and their sound begs for more. If I…

Crazy Heart Deluxe Edition Soundtrack

Though this album has 23 tracks there is little to say about it. “Crazy Heart” has 3 Academy Award Nominations including Best Song “The Weary Kind.” The movie was also the winner of Golden Globe and Critics’ Choice Award for Best Song and Motion Picture. This Review however is not for the movie it is for…

Funny New Country Song, “I Pray For You” by Jaron and The Long Road To Love

This song is called “I Pray For You” by Jaron And The Long Road To Love. Its pretty funny, not your typical country song, let me know what you think.

Concert Review: Chevelle at the Murat Egyptian Room – Guest writer Laura Mittler

Chevelle Concert Review Murat Egyptian Room, Indianapolis, IN February 19th, 2010 Having been a die-hard fan for a greater part of the last decade, I would be kidding myself to pretend that I could write a totally unbiased review of my very first Chevelle concert.  After an unfortunate tardiness to Mayday 2007…

Band of Horses Return May 18

I have been anticipating a new Band of Horses album ever since I listened to their most recent offering, “Cease to Begin”.  Lucky me, I don’t have to wait much longer. The group has announced their third album, “Infinite Arms”, will reach the masses on May 18. One thing that is a bit puzzling is that the…

The Join at the Bluebird

The Join will perform at the Bluebird in Bloomington tomorrow, March 4. The band is actually a combination of members from two different bands, The New Deal and the Disco Biscuits. It was founded by the drummer and keyboard player of The New Deal — the other members rotate in and out depending on tour scheduling…
